Who We Are
MokitaGrit Productions was founded in February 2009 by Jane Lesley, Joe Fredericks, Emily Agnew and Jon Bonfiglio through the merger of Mokita Productions and Grit Productions. Boasting a track record of over twenty productions at thirty different venues, over 15,000 people have already seen our productions, with a further 30,000 having watched our associate productions, making us one of the most prolific independent production houses in the country. In 2010 MokitaGrit was delighted to welcome Holly Reiss to the team, having successfully collaborated with her when she produced Pages:Promised Land.
Already an award winning company, we received the highly prestigious Society of London Theatres Stage One New Producers Award for the incredibly innovative piece Pages and an Argus Angel Award at The Brighton Fringe Festival for performer Gael Le Cornec in Luis Benkard’s production of Frida: Viva La Vida for which we were an associate producer.
We aim to produce ground-breaking theatre of all kinds that challenges both collaborators and audience. We are committed to creating a professional working environment of equality, transparency and passion with an emphasis on seeking out emerging talent. We are all about collaboration and community. We want to bring people together to create memorable and inspiring theatre. We are exacting and demanding in our pursuit of working at the highest level of artistic quality. We are brave, bold and adventurous in our choices of project, whilst being committed to a financially viable and sustainable business model. We are driven by the desire to create the best possible theatrical product for all audiences.
Mokita Productions and Grit Productions both enjoyed a prolific start to their lives, producing a staggering variety of work at venues all around the country. This was all achieved in the first 18 months of their existence. The breadth of work ranged from a Christmas family musical, to a Sanskrit masterpiece, both of which enjoyed critical acclaim and sell out runs at two of the premier Off West End venues.
