A Christmas Carol

A CHRISTMAS CAROL by Charles Dickens - Winner of Best Play 2010 London Awards for Art and Performance

A musical adaptation by Phil Wilmott

KINGS HEAD THEATRE, 115 UPPER STREET, LONDON, N1 1QN

10th DECEMBER 2008 to 4th JANUARY 2009

For a financially fraught Christmas, the King’s Head Theatre plays host to an (affordably priced!)
reminder of the important things in life. A vibrant cast of multi‐talented performers (from ages six to 60) present Phil Willmott’s new version of A CHRISTMAS CAROL in a celebratory staging
that’s set to entrance the city’s surliest cynics.
a-christmas-carol-james-reid-007.jpg Uniting award‐winning young companies GRIT and Mokita, children, puppets and actormusicians
will recreate yuletime Victorian London to engross audiences from their first step
through the door. Willmott’s inventive adaptation places the narrative in a backstreet inn where
Dickens desperately recounts his tale to a sceptical publisher, quickly drawing a crowd from the
local punters. As he transforms a 19th century public house into a redemptive world of hardship
and hope, so the King’s Head will bring a touch of magic to every miser in the capital.
