London Premiere of the award winning hit musical

Following a sell-out extended run at the Liverpool Playhouse and a 2008 TMA award for best musical, ‘Once Upon a Time at the Adelphi’ finally arrives in London in an energetic new production.

1930’s Liverpool, and the glitz and glamour of Hollywood pour off the luxury liners for their first taste of England: a night in the city’s most fashionable hotel.

Amidst all the decadence, no-nonsense Alice from reception has fallen for the dashing Thompson from accounts – but fate, Hollywood, two wars and a dizzying array of staff and guests intervene in an epic love story spanning 60 years.

Press

A genuinely impressively achieved musical and quite possibly the best new show to hail from Liverpool since Blood Brothers.
Mark Shenton (The Stage, 08/03/2010)

No praise is too high for Willmott’s adept staging, and Andrew Wright’s choreography is downright breathtaking.
Michael Coveney (What’s On Stage, 08/03/2010)

There are no weak links in the ensemble, every one of whom sings (unmiked) and dances up a storm – but the star of the show really is Andrew Wright’s brilliantly executed choreography, eclipsing anything recently on the London fringe.
